After practicing privately and independently in Orange, CT since 2012 Michael Crane formed Broadview Counseling and Assessment LLC to expand mental health support services for children, couples, working professionals, and families.

Michael has worked in various public schools, private schools, and mental health organizations since 2004. He greatly enjoys working to improve outcomes of individuals with a wide range of presenting problems at all levels of the developmental continuum. Michael is licensed in the State of Connecticut as a Licensed Professional Counselor and is a Certified School Psychologist in Connecticut. He holds a Master of Arts and 6th Year professional certificate in Educational Psychology from the University of Connecticut Neag School of Education. He received his Bachelor’s degree with a focus on psychology from Central Connecticut State University. He also holds a certificate of education administration from University of Bridgeport and is currently completing doctoral coursework in International Education. He is a member of the American Psychological Association, the American Counseling Association, and the National Association of School Psychologists. He has received training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy for adolescents.

Michael continues to practice full time at an alternative public high school in Connecticut as a school psychologist where his primary roles are counseling, psychological testing, special education eligibility determination, and developing IEPs. He is the team leader for PBIS schoolwide intervention as well as the primary mental health provider at the school. He is a frequent member at PPTs, Section 504 meetings, behavioral health consultations, Crisis Team, Climate Committee, and provides DBT.  Michael has experience working with individuals of all ages with social, emotional, behavioral and adjustment difficulties. His specializations in counseling include anxiety and depression with adolescents and men’s issues. His therapeutic orientation is generally cognitive and behavioral in nature.

Recently, as a result of the high frequency of students struggling during the pandemic, Michael has expanded Broadview Counseling to provide educational advocacy and private special education services from certified teachers with specializations.

He lives in Orange with his wife, three young children, and Bernadoodle Niles.
